Anglican Diocese of Huron Congregational Coaching Team

Members of the Huron Congregational Coaching Team are available to assist congregations in "getting from A to B",
where "A" is the best of where they are (their current identity), and "B" is where God is calling them to minister (vision).
Each member is equipped to coach congregations in VIVA and has unique skills in coaching congregational development and health.

Who We Are: The Diocese of Huron Congregational Coaching Team is "a leaven for congregations"

- a Learning, Energizing, Appriciating, Visioning, Equipping, Negotiating Community

Our Vision: A Spiritually Regenerated Church

Our Purpose:  To coach the Church to a deeper experience of vocation and mission.

Our Narrative:  With passion and vision, the Huron Congregational Coaching Team is equipped for the ministry of coaching. When invited, a member of the Team works with a congregation or a regional ministry to:

  • help them discover their shared values, identity and vision
  • equip them to carry out, sustain, and celebrate their unique purpose in Christ.

June Hough
Bishop Bruce Howe appointed the Rev’d June Hough to be rector of East London Anglican Ministries, starting June 1, 2008. In May 2009, Bishop Bob Bennett announced the appointment of The Rev'd June as the Venerable June Hough, Archdeacon of Erie. My family and I returned to London after moves that took us to Nova Scotia, Toronto and Ottawa. With each move I have had the blessing of ministering within diverse congregations in the Dioceses of Nova Scotia and Ottawa.  I was born in Kirkland Lake, which is a small mining town in Northern Ontario. My family moved often, but I finished high school (Montcalm) in London and attended Western receiving a BA in Phys. Ed.  After attending Huron College, I was ordained in the Diocese of Huron in 1986. Following my curacy, I became incumbent of St. Peter’s in Dorchester. I had many blessings in Dorchester, one being it was there I met my husband. It was in my former parish of St. John the Divine in Ottawa that I experienced much the same kind of transition ELAM has had. The parish had been built on rented land and a large increase in rent forced the congregation to make a decision to move to a higher density area in the south and hold worship in a school gym. Despite the difficulties of the move in terms of debt and loss of people, the parish recovered and moved forward. More than that, they discovered what it means to be church. Through that, I am able to appreciate the journey ELAM is on. Walking out in faith is a courageous thing to do, yet in spite of the difficulties there is an excitement in that search for the promised land . . . then we realize it has been within us all along.

Ed Leidel - Ed Leidel's VIP

Ed began the Coaching Team ministry in the Diocese of Huron in 2007. He contracted with the diocese for three years to do congregational development. It was initially the hope that at the end of those three years the ministry would continue with a trained team of lay and clergy leaders. That hope has now been realized. Ed has now moved on to live in Milwaukee, Wisconsin - the city where Ed and his wife, Ira grew up. He continues his ministry there as a congregational coach at large, serving churches and dioceses throughout North America.

Sue Paulton is currently on leave from the coaching ministry
Ordained to the Vocational Diaconate on Nov. 8, 1998. Served as Deacon at Church of the Ascension in Windsor with an educational ministry in the community. In 2001 I began seminary at Huron University College. While at seminary I was appointed Deacon in Charge of St. David’s, Windsor. Upon graduation in 2004 and following my ordination to the Priesthood I was assigned to a ministry partnership involving three Windsor parishes: St. David’s, St. Barnabas’ and St. Mark’s. After two years I was appointed Rector of St. David’s and St. Mark’s. From my earliest days my experience of ministry was solely large church until the Bishop asked me to minister with St. David’s and then St. Mark’s. Small church ministry is now one of my joys and I am seeking to be certified as a small church coach. I am married to Robin and we have three married children: Hannah (Dave), Christian (Christie) and Bonnie (Tim). And life has taken on new meaning and excitement with the arrival of our grandsons Harrison and Elijah.

Kim Van Allen
Kim has spent most of her life in and around London, Ontario moving there from Kitchener as a child.  She and Dale married while completing their Bachelor of Arts at the University of Western Ontario settling in London as Kim pursued a management career at Bell Canada dabbling in Organizational Behaviour studies at UWO.  A volunteer Christian Educator at St. Jude's, London, she discerned a vocation to priestly ministry and offered herself to the church graduating from Huron University College with a Master of Divinity in 1997.  Ordained in 1997, Kim served as Assistant Curate at the former New St. Paul's, Woodstock, rector at St. George's Middlesex Centre and Grace Church Ilderton, St. Alban the Martyr in London, and currently at All Saint's, Downtown Windsor.  She chairs the Human Resources Committee and is active in other leadership roles within the Diocese and wider church.  Kim's primary sense of call is 'to point to the holy'.  Discerning, naming, and sharing God's presence in our lives is woven through the various ministries of a parish priest.  Discerning, naming, and sharing God's presence is a fundamental role for church in this hungry world.  In doing so, we are able to join God in God's redemptive work in our time.  Kim enjoys accompanying parishes, groups, and individuals as they figure out how they will respond to God's invitation to serve.  Whether rural, suburban, downtown ~ large or small ~ we have God-given opportunities to provide transforming spiritual nurture to the world around us.  Kim and her husband, Dale, are discovering life as 'empty-nesters' and enjoying the wonders of Essex County.  Mother of Dana and Nick who, with his wife Rachel, currently live in London, Kim loves motherhood and anticipates grandmotherhood some day down the road.
